Did you know that personality clashes account for 50% of work-related conflicts?

Often, these disputes are swept under the rug, primarily due to the discomfort associated with resolving them. This evasion, however, comes at a cost. Lingering resentment can lead to stress, dwindling productivity, impaired work relationships, and most concerning, deteriorating health. Clearly, conflict resolution is essential. But before delving into that, it’s crucial to first dispel negative emotions and achieve a calm mind. One way to do this is through a technique known as the Serene Mind Practice (SMP).

The Serene Mind Practice: A Journey to Inner Calm

I discovered SMP during one of my visits to the Oneness and One Consciousness Academy in southern India. This technique has consistently proven effective for me and numerous others who have tried it. It’s a straightforward process you can apply almost anywhere to dissolve negative emotions associated with conflict or any other mental disturbance.

Ready to give it a try? Here’s how:

  1. Sit comfortably with your spine erect and gently close your eyes.
  2. Focus on your breath for three cycles, inhaling and exhaling deeply.
  3. Try to elongate your exhalation, making it longer than your inhalation.
  4. Acknowledge the exact emotion that is surfacing. Is it irritation, anxiety, confusion, joy, gratitude, or love?
  5. Identify the direction of your thoughts. Are they entangled in the past, directed towards the future, or are they in the present?
  6. Shift your attention to the center of your eyebrow.
  7. Visualize or feel a tiny flame moving from the center of your eyebrow to the middle of your brain.
  8. Maintain your focus in the middle of your brain for a few moments.
  9. Smile and open your eyes when you feel ready.

Embrace the Tranquility

Think of a time when you’re grappling with a particularly difficult work situation or feeling irritable or anxious. Rather than succumbing to these feelings, why not utilize these three minutes as a personal oasis of calm? You could be at work, close your door for a few moments. If you share an office, find a quiet spot— perhaps a restroom stall or your car.

Implementing SMP can improve your productivity, alleviate stress, enhance your health, and provide the tranquility necessary to approach conflict resolution with a clear and peaceful mind.

Take this small step towards peace of mind, and experience the transformative power of the Serene Mind Practice. Remember, consistency is key to reaping the full benefits of this practice.

Be well and don’t forget to share your journey with SMP. We’d love to hear your stories of personal transformation and newfound peace.
